Here's a gem

While stumbling in class this morning (don't judge me!) I came across this interesting website: http://www.angryharry.com/notefeminismforstudents.htm

I must warn you that it's not for the faint of heart. In fact, as I was reading through it I verbally said "WHAT!?" aloud in class. It was awkward, but I played it off as if I didn't understand what we were going over so all is good.

But honestly, this website is definitely one to note.

Here's just a tidbit of the claims that are made on the site:

Women have been more Oppressed than Men in the Past

Not True

Women were Unfairly Kept out of the Workplace

Not True

Men are More 'Domestically Violent' Towards Women than are Women Towards Men

Not True

Over 25% of Women will be Raped in their Lives

Not True

Feminism is of Considerable Benefit to Society

Not True

And the list goes on and on.

Check it out and see for yourself. It's almost hard to believe that there are people out here that believe in this... ALMOST.

Ugh. Small steps forward for equal rights of men and women; one giant leap backward thanks to our archaic thinking friends.

So I think it is ridiculous what the site had to say about cancer research for women...

"about eight times as much money is spent by government on women's health as on men's health."

A couple things,

1. if you research this little tid bit, you'll find out that this so called statistic is from the UK, not the US.

2. Men can have breast cancer too, so all of that money and research goes to help men as well as women.

3. Breast Cancer is the second most deadly form of cancer in women, killing close to 50,000 women in 2004.

4. Close to 200,000 women will be diagnosed with some form of breast cancer this year alone. Yea, meh, all these people aren't important.

Thank you ignorance

In a non-professional manner, I'm willing to bet that "angryharry" is a sexist in denial over what females have had to do in the past in order to get the rights that we have today. What gets me is that this person has the nerve to claim the sight as a place for students to learn about feminism (at least in the web address). Granted any researcher worth her or his salt would be hesistant to use a site with a ".com" in the address, but I think the web address alone sums up "angryharry's" thoughts on feminism.
